The body care products that make a big difference

Time to peel off those winter layers and let bare arms, legs and shoulders take centre stage.
Your body deserves the same considered approach as your face, and today’s formulations are anything but basic. They combine active ingredients, sophisticated textures, and targeted benefits to hydrate, smooth, brighten, and firm. What was once an afterthought in our beauty routines is becoming a category in its own right. From exfoliating treatments and barrier-supporting body oils to formulas designed to improve tone and texture, First Aid Beauty prioritises body care as much as we do, by editor Trudi Brewer.

First Aid Beauty approaches the body with the same ingredient-led thinking we expect from our facial skincare. It solves real body-skin problems rather than just making skin feel moisturised (though it does also deliver a good dollop of pampering). Many of its formulas target specific concerns, including one of the most common: keratosis pilaris (KP). For a quick science lesson: Coined the “chicken skin” effect, it happens when keratin clogs hair follicles, most often on the arms, thighs, and buttocks, resulting in a rough texture, dryness, and sensitivity. First Aid Beauty’s answer is an ingredient-led formula that exfoliates gently, and consumer feedback has been impressive.
It’s genuinely active, with lactic acid, soothing with colloidal oatmeal, and urea, the skin-softening powerhouse, as well as ceramides that not only support the skin barrier but also reduce moisture loss and help calm compromised skin, offering a treatment-oriented approach at home.
Here are our favourites from the collection.

The Hardworking Skin Perfector

First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub 10% AHA, $56

Smooth skin starts with this scrub. It’s a blend of 10 per cent AHA’s (glycolic and lactic acids) that helps resurface the skin, while pumice buffing beads physically polish away dead skin and roughness. Designed with KP in mind, it targets those tell-tale bumps and uneven texture, leaving skin noticeably softer, smoother and more polished — exactly what you want when spring's bare-skin season arrives. The Hi-Tech Cream

First Aid Beauty KP Peach Smoothing Lotion w. 10% AHA, $68

Consider this body care with a skincare mindset. With 10 per cent lactic acid, it gently exfoliates to tackle rough, bumpy texture and the tell-tale ‘chicken skin’ associated with keratosis pilaris, while urea, ceramides, colloidal oatmeal, glycerin and allantoin replenish moisture, soften and smooth and help support the skin barrier. The result? Softer, more polished-looking skin that feels considerably less rough — the fresh peach scent makes a targeted body treatment feel a little more indulgent.

The More-Than-Pampering Oil

First Aid Beauty Nourishing Dry Body Oil, $67

If your skin needs more than a basic body lotion, this lightweight dry oil delivers nourishment without the greasy after-feel. That is thanks to a cocktail of seven botanical oils, including jojoba, grapeseed, apricot, olive, sunflower and babassu, designed to nourish dry skin and help support the barrier. It leaves a subtle sheen that looks particularly good on bare shoulders, arms and legs. But it would be remiss not to mention the scent: this oil has no artificial fragrance and no silicone; the scent comes from essential oils. Including lemon, tangerine and spearmint oils – that give it a crisp citrus-mint aroma. Think post-shower glow, minus the slippery finish — exactly the kind of body-care upgrade spring calls for.
