A night cream is an integral part of my skincare routine; bedtime is the perfect opportunity to nourish and heal my skin while I sleep. That said, I know how important it is to find a night cream that does it all; here’s one that delivers.

Tailor Restore Melatonin Night Balm, $69.

What’s In it?

Let’s talk melatonin. It’s a natural hormone that regulates the body's night, day and sleep-wake cycles. Stacked in this balm, it enhances the natural repair process in the skin. It is vital for boosting a glowing complexion and helps shield the skin from oxidative stress by acting as a free radical scavenger. Next, red seaweed extract hydrates and locks moisture deep in the skin. While liquorice root helps brighten the skin and reduces the look of dark spots, one of my complexion concerns. That’s not all; shea butter, grapeseed, sunflower, jojoba seed oils, New Zealand black fern leaf extract, gotu kola leaf extract, plant-based squalane, and glycerin are also in the formula.

Why DO I like it?

Hundreds of creams are out there, and I am lucky enough to scrutinise some for a living, a responsibility I take seriously. So, what do I consider: ingredients, texture, scent and, of course, results? Restore has been on my bedside table for two weeks, and I have been slathering a generous amount on my face and neck every night. The difference in my skin is remarkable - essentially, it’s a nourishing nightcap for my ageing face. Its consistency feels thick when scooped onto the little spoon (supplied in the jar), but being a balm instead of being greasy cream, it melts into the skin and doesn’t transfer onto my silk pillow. It smells comforting, like almond icing - the perfect mild aromatic mood boost before bed. Also, the midnight blue recyclable glass jar, hefty in hand, looks great beside my bed - don’t you think? Hand on heart, Restore ticks every box as a nighttime skin-nourisher - I love it.
