Radiance-Boosting Liquid Foundation

By definition, foundations are designed to even out the appearance of your complexion, but not all are created equally. So, to the latest clean beauty buy, a foundation that will perform without adding harmful toxins, while strengthening the skin with beneficial botanicals - Jane Iredale’s new Skintuition SPF 30 Radiance-Boosting Liquid Foundation. Much more than colour, as the name suggests, it’s all about boosting skin radiance. With age, my skin is drier, so I do gravitate towards moisturising foundation formulas that offer a naturally dewy, illuminated finish, and typically shy away from a matte finish that emphasises my lines. I also hate a heavy makeup look; my skin is by no means flawless, but thanks to a good skincare routine, it’s healthy.
Now, let's delve into the details of this new foundation and how to use it.

What’s in it?

Boosted with some brilliant skincare benefits, it’s nourishing and skin-protecting, wrapped in a silky formula that offers instant and lasting radiance. Including hydrating hyaluronic acid (that famous moisture magnet) and vitamin E. In addition, a superfood blend of ingredients, including apple fruit extract, sunflower, and jojoba seed oils, which together help plump fine lines. Finally, it features an essential SPF 30, which is a physical sunscreen made from zinc oxide.

Why do I like it?

Foundation is the cornerstone of your makeup routine, and when you find your match, it’s life-changing. If you haven’t updated your makeup for a few years, now is your chance to find a foundation that noticeably hydrates, plumps, and brightens skin while giving it a natural, radiant finish. This product is ideal if you're looking for that major glow factor (I am), but if you prefer a more skin-like finish. The brand promises a 100 per cent perfect match from the 26 diverse shades on offer. Enough said.

How to apply it?

Proper skin prep should include at least a moisturiser and primer to help you create a perfect surface ready for foundation. Once applied, wait a few minutes. Next, give the foundation a shake. All you will need is one to two pumps; a little goes a long way. Pump the foundation from the bottle onto the back of your hand (I use a mirror), and then dot it on the areas of the skin that need coverage. You will only need one to two pumps for the entire face. This makeup melts into the skin, allowing you to achieve anything from sheer to full coverage with the help of a brush. When using a good makeup brush, choose one with synthetic bristles (which are cruelty-free). Animal bristles are porous, meaning they will absorb too much product; synthetic bristles keep the liquid foundation on your skin, exactly where it's supposed to be. Always blend with a stippling or buffing movement, and then blend it out in a circular motion using light strokes with the brush, until the foundation appears even.
