Summer sun, surf and wind all play havoc with your skin. With that in mind, sun damage, overzealous oil production and sunscreen overload are all reasons to step up your cleansing routine. Here's why we reach for a gentle, yet effective gel cleanser.

What is it?
Avène Cleanance Cleansing Gel, $42.
What's in it?
While celebrating a reputation for being a gentle skincare brand, don't  think for a second that Avène isn't one of the hardest working skincare brands on the market. Cleansing is one of its cornerstones, and this gel option removes excess oil on the skin without drying out your complexion. The reason the addition of an ingredient known as monolaurin, derived from coconut oil, this gel is also soap free and paraben free, not to mention being hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic.
How did we use it?
With our mantra at BeautyEQ being to wear sunscreen religiously in summer (all year round actually), you need a pretty good cleanser to remove the build-up of SPF from the skin's surface. This hard-working cleanser promises to do that. We team it with a cleansing brush Cutisonic for the morning, it kicks starts that fresh feeling on the skin for the day, while at night it's the perfect way to remove grime and makeup after a busy day.
How we use it?
We leave a bottle in the shower for easy access, it's ideal for busy women. Use with the Cutisonic or massaged into the skin with your fingers, it leaves skin feeling clean, but never dehydrated.
