When it comes to private members' clubs in Auckland, The Northern Club stands out as the premier choice. Located on Princess Street, this historic Italian-style building proudly serves the city's esteemed business community. It offers an ideal setting to celebrate our BeautyEQ Twilight Dinner, an evening filled with glamour and beauty. Editor Trudi Brewer shares the key moments from what was a stunning sunset event.

With the finest champagne, Piper-Heidsieck, on arrival, the team from Hancock’s expertly matched the beverages with The Northern Club menu. The white, to quote the winemaker Jules Taylor, "Forget what you think you know about Pinot Gris and try this tasty little treat," was Jules Taylor Pinot Gris, an excellent choice to accompany the spicy lamb main. Packed with flavours of a fruit salad bowl with peach, nectarine, melon and pear offset by smooth honey, and that touch of spice boosted the range of flavours on the menu. The second wine, another standout, not only for its joyful label but also for its blush-pink colour. Don’t be fooled by its pretty appearance. Saint Max Côtes de Provence Rosé offers intense grapefruit and peach flavours that leave a lasting impression on the palate. To start the shared entrée: Black Treacle Cured Salmon, pickled beetroot, cumin cream, chives, caviar and fennel oil. Beef Carpaccio, horseradish beef carpaccio with mustard, tarragon, roast grapes and sweet and sour onions. Burrata, pea pesto, basil oil, confit almond, vine tomato, smoked crème fraîche, pea tendrils. Followed by the main: Lamb rump, pickled aubergine purée, Greek yoghurt, Israeli cous cous, and cumin. The sweets were a range of dessert canapes, including raspberry and lime mousse in a dark chocolate cup, New York cheesecake, and vanilla Brûlée spoon, the perfect way to round off a wonderful seasonal menu.
