We could not have asked for a better day to celebrate our final festive event for 2024.
The Living Room at Park Hyatt is the perfect venue to enjoy the stunning Viaduct Harbour view in Tāmaki Makaurau. Scroll on to see all the action from our recent Long Lunch by editor Trudi Brewer.
The menu
For Champagne lovers, Piper-Heidsieck flowed at the Park Hyatt, creating an instant festive vibe. The bubbles followed a selection of wines from Gisborne winery Matawhero. The first wine served was Matawhero Chardonnay, which was rich and creamy in keeping with the Chardonnay style. Complemented a freshly baked warm Focaccia with garlic grilled Baba Ganoush and whipped feta dips. The main course, exquisitely cooked salmon accompanied by niçoise salad, with potatoes, green beans, egg, tomato and black olive crumb, served with a blush-coloured Matawhero Rose. It was not just the colour of the wine that completed this delicate seafood; the summery aroma of strawberries and cream makes it the ideal wine to drink with any seafood or as an aperitif. Dessert was a selection of sweet treats, including strawberry tarts with jasmine tea, vanilla creme and delicious almond friands, topped with seasonal fruit.
Summer fashion show
Our style director curated two fashion shows from poolside to party to help our guests plan their holiday wardrobes. The first showcased a selection of swim and resort wear in summer-ready colours, office workwear, and dresses to complete a capsule wardrobe ideal for work and play. There was a silhouette to suit every guest’s fashion style.

Life Pharmacy Fragrance
The high-end, designer fragrances from Life Pharmacy found our guests spoilt for choice. The latest from Burberry, Gucci, and Marc Jacobs made our fragrance pop-up the place to select a new signature scent for summer. The latest Burberry Goddess EDP Intense is an aromatic woody scent that blends the richness of vanilla with hypnotic lavender essence. For him, Burberry Hero Parfum is instantly warming thanks to Amyris and cypriol oil. Gucci was also on show with the latest Flora Gorgeous Orchid, a creamy floral spiked with freshness - the sunny yellow bottle was hard to miss. Finally, the upbeat Marc Jacobs Daisy Wild is a green, fruity floral with the aroma of a wildflower bouquet.
This beauty bar was undoubtedly a crowd-pleaser for festive fragrance shopping.
Murad Skin Care
For fans of serious skin care, Murad delivers. Not only is it an active range that fits into any routine, but one collection contains a key ingredient, a game-changer in skin rejuvenation. Our guests learned how Murad's Youth Renewal and ReScupt collection with potent but gentle retinol and retinal can speed up sluggish skin turnover to brighten dull skin, blur the look of sun damage, and strengthen the skin barrier. From our beauty panel insights to one-on-one skin consultations, there was the opportunity for each of our guests to have customised skincare prescribed to cater to their individual needs.
MOR BOUTIQUE
For scenting every room in your home this festive season, MOR Boutique, creators of exquisite bath body and home fragrances, offered a signature scent to suit any holiday entertaining. Formulated with natural ingredients, our guests took a fragrant journey with the new festive collection, Blossoming Peacock Celebration. The star is the Pine Deluxe Candle, perfect for inside and outside your home.
A nod to Christmas, the fragrance is a subtle blend of fresh pine needles heightened by warm amber, ginger and fresh eucalyptus. The MOR Boutique's scent classics, Marshmallow and Snow Gardenia festive gifts, with tips on impressing your guests using scent layering, were warmly received.
Shiseido
If you were searching for a new summer foundation, Shiseido answered that call. Each of our guests got to find their perfect makeup match with a long-wearing foundation boasting climate-adaptive technology to resist heat, humidity, and oil. It also contains skin-caring ingredients and light-reflecting abilities to give skin a firm and lifted appearance. Shiseido’s latest Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation offers a makeup solution for every skin type and age with a range of medium to buildable coverage in formulations that create the look of skin - but better.
