Am I the only one who doesn’t know just how good Protini face cream is? While it’s not new, it is to our shores. Find out what a protein-rich cream can do for ageing skin.

Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream, $132.

What's in it?

Before skin barrier strengthing ingredients were a thing, Drunk Elephant founder Tiffany Masterson was onto a cream that could do precisely that and more. Inspired by her morning protein smoothie, she created a moisturiser for ageing skin, strengthening its skin's fragile barrier with nine signal peptides. For a quick science lesson: Peptides are amino acids, the building blocks of protein, and what our skin needs to make collagen and elastin (the cushion our skin needs to stay youthful). In addition to amino acids, it contains synthetic growth factors, hydrogenated olive oil, biotin (from the vitamin B family), and plant stem cell extracts from pigmy waterlily, which stimulates your skin cells to renew, revealing brighter and firmer-looking skin. Boosted with antioxidants, which help increase environmental protection, this cream is also free from irritating fragrances, dyes, or essential oils and is vegan and cruelty-free.

Why do I like it?

First up, Drunk Elephant has made many cult beauty products. My favourites include the Lala Retro Whipped Cream, B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum and the O-Bloos Rosi Drops. Dabbed on your cheeks, these pink cream-like drops give your skin that lit-from-within glow and a fun fact, the O in O-Bloos stands for omega, so they hydrate your skin while you wear them. Now back to Protini Polypeptide Cream; it too has joined that list. Yes, it's pricey, but so is our weekly shop at the supermarket right now. So why would you invest? A lovely, close (very glam friend) asked me,' would it sort out my lizard-like skin' - her words, not mine. I had to say YES. I have been using it for two weeks, and my 50-something complexion looks plump and feels nourished and soft to the touch, the results I want from a face cream. So, if your skin is thinning, appears dehydrated, and those fine lines are etching their way into your face - give it a go.

How to use it: Use both mornings (before SPF) and night on clean skin.
