One of the UK's biggest beauty launches has landed in New Zealand, and editor Trudi Brewer is among the first to get her hands on No7 Future Renew, a skincare phenomenon.

A British beauty staple since 1935, No7 is still offering up skincare solutions at an attainable price. Their latest, Future Renew, helps address the daily damage that living and breathing in our modern world causes to our complexions. Add ageing, hormones, and our harsh New Zealand UV light, and wrinkles, dullness, dryness, lack of luminosity, and uneven skin tone are the result. Until now, retinol has been the gold standard in age-reversal, but Future Renew is also promising to relieve those concerns without that retinoid reaction, and it’s good news for those with sensitive skin.

What’s in Future Renew

The hero ingredient is a 'super peptide blend’ called Pepticology technology. But before I share No7's technology, let's get across peptides: Peptides are short-chain amino acids naturally produced in our bodies, but like all good things, they deplete with age. They are the building blocks of essential proteins, like collagen and elastin, that give skin strength, clarity and resilience.
Back to that No7's ‘super peptide blend’. Essentially, it 'biohacks' the skin's natural repair process to stimulate the renewal (much like retinol) of collagen, fibrillin (which plays a role in the formation and structure of elastic fibres) and elastin so the skin’s support system works more efficiently, combating the effects of environmental damage and ageing.
Finally, in addition to the Pepticology technology, each product contains superhero antioxidants, like brightening niacinamide (or vitamin B3), vitamin C, the moisture magnet, hyaluronic acid, and rice protein.
But if you need evidence of its efficacy, it’s out there. No7 in collaboration with the University of Manchester, presented this technology at three international dermatology conferences, arguably a tough crowd, dermatologists don't buy into beauty hype without evidence, which revealed the ‘super peptide blend’ is proven to enhance the expression of over 50 key skin proteins, including collagen and fibrillin, to support skin function and the natural self-repair. Future Renew is, by the brand's admission, its finest work to date, and it’s up for the challenges our skin faces daily.

The collection

Each product is lightweight and instantly absorbs, and there is no pilling when layering the serum and cream together. Also, No7 has dialled down the fragrance so it speaks to those with skin sensitivities.
No7 Future Renew Repair collection is available exclusively at Life Pharmacy.

Impressing dermatologists is no easy task, but this serum has done that in spades, thanks to its patented, cutting-edge ‘super peptide blend’, plus vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, and niacinamide (a form of vitamin B3). Together, these ingredients make it a multi-benefit serum for any skin type. Use morning and night.

This would have to be my favourite in the collection simply because, at the end of the day, when I wash off my makeup, I want a cream that feels luxurious and is ultra-nourishing on freshly washed, dehydrated skin. I don’t know how No7 made the cosmetically pleasing cloud-like texture, but it’s genius. It’s stacked with the ‘super peptide blend’ shea butter, niacinamide, and rice protein, all heavy hitters for skin longevity.

This cooling, gel-like cream sinks into the skin immediately, delivering all the goodness from those potent ingredients. The brand promises that after one week, dryness will improve, and those fine lines will be plumped. We agree.

The takehome

I struggle to stick to one skincare range from the same brand; I am a cherry-picker. But I want to use the No7 Future Renew products together, because they complement each other. The serum and night cream will be on my must-purchase list once they run out. It took only a couple of days to see the plumping effect of this collection, but fairly quickly, my skin felt and looked so hydrated, with an overall healthy glow, something I am always searching for. My favourite product in the range is the Night Cream. I love its buttery richness, while whipped in texture, it’s lightweight, sinks in fast, and is uber-nourishing. If you are looking for an alternative to some very pricy products that make claims of being anti-ageing instead of promoting skin longevity, as far as No7's Future Renew collection goes, the hype is real.
