A tribute to family, this fragrance combines two beautiful flowers in a modern perfume. Aerin Lauder, granddaughter of the Lauder founder, Estée, inspired this new addition to her AERIN collection, as a nod to the past, and the original scent Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia.
This new AERIN Tuberose Gardenia was a special project. “My grandmother, Estée, launched the first Private Collection fragrance back in 1973, with the idea of sharing a special scent she had created just for herself. While I was the creative director of Estée Lauder, I worked on Tuberose Gardenia – a scent that is still sold today. “This new fragrance was a tribute to my grandmother and two of my favourite flowers.”
What’s in it?
First, this is not the only offering from AERIN; Fragrantica lists 42 distinct perfumes with new additions each year. There are 13 of those perfumes on offer here, each inspired by Aerin Lauder’s travels, experiences and memories. T
his new Tuberose Gardenia is a nod to the brand’s heritage and a tribute to its lasting presence. So what’s in it? Tuberose, of course, is both creamy and sweet, and it also has a honey-like, coconut appeal. Coincidentally, it was my mum’s favourite flower. While the Gardenia is another bold white flower, it also has an earthy quality with a hint of sun-ripened peach. Gardenia has become synonymous with elegance, remaining a timeless bloom in fragrance making. Add that to memories of tropical escapes under the sun, and this flower is as popular as it is exquisite. This scent combines those lovely white flowers with musky carnation and a base of creamy vanilla, which helps give it longevity. It is ultra-feminine, bold, will turn heads, and will genuinely resonate with anyone who loves floral fragrance.
Why do I like it?
The day I received this fragrance was a typical windy spring Auckland day, pouring with rain. Alongside a beautiful bouquet of spring blooms, the scent instantly made me long for the sun. Those two topical flowers are the reason for that: In this job, I have developed a habit of changing my perfume to expand my scent repertoire and create new memories. This scent could not have arrived at a more perfect time. It lifted my spirits, made me dream of warmer days and long evenings spent in my garden. Fragrance is so personal, perhaps even more so than selecting a new foundation, because everyone has a unique sense of smell. For me, perfume is the finishing touch to any outfit and a positive mood-booster. A good reason to wear perfume every day, not only for special occasions.
This pure white floral fragrance not only makes me feel invigorated, but it’s beachy, idyllic, and oh so summery.
The scent of summer.
