Perhaps designer clothing doesn’t fit your budget right now, but splurging on a designer perfume is something you can justify, when it has the power to boost your mood and make you feel remarkably feminine. This new Narciso fragrance was designed to evoke serenity, an unapologetic floral scent bolstered by skin-warming musk.
Narciso Rodriguez Radiante EDP, from $131
What’s in it?
It couldn’t be a better antidote to this gloomy, wet, winter weather. A burst of spring-like scent, thanks to Lily of the Valley and carnation. A zesty orange blossom intertwined with clove and the lingering smell of freshly washed linen courtesy of cotton flower. But as a pure floral, woody, musk, it leaves a slight herbaceous aroma on your wrist, thanks to vetiver, cedar, musk and amber. It’s the definition of clean, creamy, and woody, understated purity.
Narciso Rodriguez Radiante EDP is available in three sizes: 30ml, $131; 50ml, $197; and 90ml, $245, at Life Pharmacy.
Why do we like it?
Between its juicy, floral freshness, which never smells overpowering, and its sophisticated uniqueness, married with an impressive lasting power, this is one scent worth the splurge. Especially considering that a little goes a long way. After an hour, it still smells just as fragrant on my wrist as it did from the initial spritz. If you gravitate towards floral, clean scents with a hint of musk (like me), you’ll enjoy this newbie. But if you’re not sure about musk, listen up. Musk in a fragrance can come across as clean and crisp in one iteration, or earthy and woody in another. The musk in this scent brings an intoxicating mystery that adds to its alluring quality, ideal for winter. It’s easily detectable on the skin and hair, though it’s not too intense to be overwhelming. With 86 per cent of its ingredients originating from natural sources, it’s also certified vegan. Finally, in true, simplistic Narciso style, the bottle is stunning. A transparent square, in a shade of subtle pastel purple, almost like a sheer silk blouse, that nicely reflects the light.
A floral, woody, musk - it’s divine.
