Review: Burberry Goddess Eau de Parfum Intense

We love sharing the latest designer scents, and this new Burberry was made for wearing when the temperature plummets. Editor Trudi Brewer shares a designer vanilla-infused scent reminiscent of our favourite dessert.

Technically, this newbie is a gourmand fragrance, best described as decadent, made with mouth-watering edible ingredients like honey, chocolate, or candied fruits. But, in this case, vanilla is the star of the show. It is not just a splash but is laden with four vanilla extracts to add different intensities. Vanilla infusion, caviar, vanilla absolute, and vanilla woods with a touch of patchouli for the fresh edge. When combined with lavender essence, it becomes a sweet-woody fusion that, throughout the day, warms and mellows into a soft cloud of creamy goodness - just like crème brûlée.

Burberry Goddess Eau De Parfum Intense, 30ml, $151, 50ml, $222, and 100ml, $323.

Inspired by the colours at sunset, the amber bottle is decorated with a gold medallion and the heritage stamp of approval. It’s sweet but not sickly, full of depth, warmth, and a touch of spice—did I mention the impressive longevity? While creamy thanks to the overload of vanilla, it’s equally fresh, uber-sophisticated with the right of uniqueness thanks to the sprinkling of lavender. Considering its impressive lasting power and indeed luxe-y packaging, we think this is worth the splurge for winter, especially considering one spritz goes a long way.
