Captivating audiences worldwide, the latest international collection hot from London’s V&A has arrived at Auckland Museum.
Featuring over 280 costumes, photography, and music, DIVA shares the power, ambition, and artistry of some of the most legendary performers in history. Rock and pop music, including Maria Callas, Cher, Madonna, Tina Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Björk, Billie Eilish and Aotearoa’s most prominent Opera star, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa..
Showstopping costumes to intimate personal items, the exhibition is set to music, with headphones amplified by the tunes of divas from yesteryear, such as Maria Callas, and icons of our time, including Aretha Franklin, Dolly Parton, Adele, Rihanna, Elton John, Prince, Ella Fitzgerald, Beyoncé, and Cher. You can take this exquisite journey at your own pace through a hall of fame, discovering the most outstanding performers who have redefined the meaning of 'diva' in our time and generations past.
DIVA opens on Saturday, July 5th, at Auckland Museum and runs until Sunday, October 19, 2025.
