Statement jewellery: Get ready to layer up this winter

Time to ditch the fine jewellery and start stacking bold chains, oversized earrings and cocktail rings, says style director Louise Hilsz, who shares that latest jewellery that are hot right now.

We love a fashion trend that helps us all reevaluate what we have in our wardrobes, and this current accessory trend does just that. Layering works with all the pieces you may own or covet, from precious heirlooms to antique jewellery or vintage finds. The first step is to inventory the pieces you own and decide what to add. Next comes the trends. Louise Hilsz says this season, more is more. Chains-on-chains with pendants, stacked rings, and multiple earrings are about making a statement." Which begs the question, what's the secret to making them look perfectly layered? "Layering jewellery is all about stacking complementary pieces that tell a story while having a focal point. Add a pop of colour to interesting charms or textured chains. Either way, there's no wrong way to accessorise."
