The perfect gift for Fahter’s Day. Read on to discover what’s inside the bottles.

Calvin Klein Defy EDP, 50ml $83.

With sustainability top of mind, almost 90 per cent of the ingredients in the new designer scent are naturally sourced. It’s drenched in mandarin oil, black pepper, green fig and lavender. Untraditional like the brand, the tang is courtesy of violet leaf and vetiver oil. At the same time, sandalwood and patchouli give it a flowery softness, yet after a few hours, it has a seductive leathery quality. Presented in rich navy blue with a textured matte blue cap, the look of this scent was inspired by CK’s popular denim collections.

KENZO Homme Intense, from 60ml, $129.

The bottle excited us; then, its purpose had us completely hooked. In support of Orin Hardy, the co-founder of Bamboo U and Kul Kul Farm in Bali, KENZO has created a scholarship that will enable ten students to study through the Bamboo U Project, where Hardy teaches permaculture design, gardening and bamboo construction. Working with what Hardy considers the most sustainable timber of the future, both the bottle design (which looks like a piece of sturdy bamboo) and the exotic woody aroma are designed to help us reconnect with nature. Pink pepper, a splash of aquatic-like notes, with zesty vetiver with exotic fig, blend effortlessly with sandalwood and synthetic Akigalawood (think spicy and warm like patchouli). This is a fragrance considering the future of our planet and the people on it.

Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee EDP 60ml, $135.

Liquid gold, like a well-aged whisky, this fragrance contains exquisite ingredients inspired by the craft of master distillers. Housed in elegant (15 per cent recycled) glass, the hint of whisky absolute gives it an instant oaky vibe, but once blended with musky iris, coriander seeds and bergamot; it has tangy freshness and addictive powdery warmth. What makes it stand out in the crowd is the sweetness of siam benzoin (a gum resin that smells sweet, smooth like vanilla) and chestnut that creates an ambery-like aroma. It reflects those century-old casks where exceptional whiskies age to perfection before being sipped with loads of ice from crystal glass.
