It would be safe to say pink is my spirit colour. So when it comes to makeup, I am always on the hunt for the perfect pink lip gloss. Here I have rounded up a list of my favourites and why I love them. Check out the brands and hues that made the cut, by style director Louise Hilsz.
Revlon Super Lustrous Glimmer Gloss, $28
I am head over heels in love with Revlon’s latest shimmery offering, so much so that I bought two shades, the Rose Glow featured and Pink Prisma.
Why do I love it? The level of glitter in the formula is epic. It shimmers so beautifully. It layers well over a lipstick or another gloss. While it’s packed with glitter, the texture is ultra smooth, not gritty, and never sticky. And the doe foot is so hearty; you get excellent coverage in one swipe. I love it.
MAC Squirt Plumping Gloss Stick, $46
This is brand new to my gloss stable, and I am smitten. I wasn’t sure at first, as it didn’t look very glossy, being in a lipstick-like stick rather than a wand. But wow, the shade Amped is a pure bold pink, the gloss factor is next level. It also gives my lips a tingly, plumping feel, thanks to ginger root oil, capsicum, and menthol extracts. I used it with a matching liner, MAC Lipglazer in Candy Yum Yum (a classic MAC shade), which makes the colour so vibrant. This is my new favourite.
MECCA MAX Gloss Boss Lip Gloss, $22
This has been my go-to gloss for the last few years in shade All Pink Everything. It has a great pink pigment and is super glossy. It often sells out, so I always stock up.
Glossier Lip Glaze, $43
In shade Chilly, this creamy lip oil is so moisturising and easy to wear. It doesn't have a heavy pigment, but it has a great shine and is not sticky.
Morphe Dripglass Glazed Pearl, $25
POV: Another award-winning gloss is also worthy of mentioning in two shades. Glint Of Pink shade features a massive punch of colour, whilst Opalescent Orchid gives a radiant shine. The wand is slim and flexible, which is nice when applying it to get a really defined coverage. The gloss tube is quite petite, which is perfect for keeping in my pocket: It’s gloss on the go.
Dolly Beauty Hi-Gloss Lips, US$18
On a recent trip to Dollywood, I had to buy a gloss from Dolly’s new beauty line. To quote Dolly Patron, "I don't do anything halfway, that's why my lip gloss isn't just pink, it's ‘Very Pink’, and I think you're just gonna love it.” And I do! Shade Very Pink is quite sheer but very glossy, and I love the bejewelled crystal wand.
Sephora Collection Outrageous Plump Lip Gloss, $28
In shade Star Struck Pink, this was a fun purchase. Its base is silver, and very pigmented, with a glittery finish that leaves your lips feeling tingly, thanks to the plumping technology. While lips taste fresh thanks to the minty flavour. It’s long-wearing and gives great shine.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss, $48
I bought this in shade Cotton Candy out of desperation, as my go-to Mecca Max Gloss Boss was out of stock. The colour is lighter than I usually wear, and the formula is very thick. However, it’s super long-wearing, and I have found it to be a great colour that layers perfectly under the sheer Sephora gloss.
