Fashion designer Tory Burch has built an empire on positively changing the lives of others by influencing our wardrobes. This latest collection is clean, concise, uplifting, yet calming and made to evoke feelings of unity. “I share many people’s dream of unity and peace. The world is incredibly divided right now, and what’s missing is true connection. We need to come together, find common ground, and try to understand each other, even if we don’t always agree. Deep down, I think most of us want the same things: equality, freedom, safety, and the promise of a better tomorrow,” Burch told the media. With that, there’s something for everyone within this quintet of scents. Created to wear alone or layered together to make a bespoke fragrance personal to you, but all evoke optimism and unity - and who doesn’t want to feel that in the year ahead?
Tory Burch Electric Sky, $44 - $191.
Energizing and uplifting, this scent was inspired by freedom and is my favourite in the collection. I think the blend of garden-fresh cactus flowers gives this perfume a mellow, green note. Jasmine adds summery, floral softness, and the blend of blue sage and violet, with a saltwater accord, is rounded off nicely by tart vetiver - it’s divine.
Tory Burch Cosmic Wood, $44 - $191.
Designed to evoke a sense of optimism by bringing magic or the feeling that anything is possible. This scent has a spicy kick thanks to cardamom, jasmine and sustainably sourced vetiver, a node to Burch’s father, Buddy, who always wore tangy vetiver. Finally, it’s grounded by smoky wood, patchouli and sage - this is one you and your partner could wear simultaneously.
Tory Burch Divine Moon, $44 - $191.
If you are searching for peace and tranquillity, Burch bottled it for you here. This pretty floral captures the sweet scent of the Lady of the Night flower, with rhubarb and bergamot that add the juxtaposition of a honey-like, citrus zing inspired by the aromas of Burch’s garden in Antigua. Sandalwood and almond milk give it dreamy longevity. This is my second favourite scent from this beautiful designer collection.
Tory Burch Mystic Geranium, $44 - $191.
If serenity and being at one with nature is your calling, then the fresh bergamot and herb-like aroma of geranium with watery lotus will help you feel that. A few hours later, the blend of cedarwood with musk rounds off what is a plush, earthy perfume.
Tory Burch Sublime Rose, 90ml, $191.
One of the most popular flowers in perfume-making is the rose, but it’s also the most versatile. Once this responsibly-sourced bloom is blended with blackcurrant, it has an instant juicy brightness. Add spring-like freesia, dreamwood (the synthetic biotech ingredient that adds incredible warmth) and patchouli, and you have a familiar, feminine, and very wearable scent.
