What we expect from lipstick is a colour that stays true to shade, lasts through lunch, and has a comfortable finish. This newbie does precisely that. Makeup artists dub this ‘the perfect fusion of art and science’, thanks to a cutting-edge formulation. Here’s what you can expect from Shiseido’s TechnoSatin Gel Lipstick, all 20 glorious shades.

What is it?

First, this lipstick feels excellent, thanks to a ‘Stretch-Flex Technology,’ the brand says is similar to a mesh in that it weightlessly wraps lips in a long-lasting, cushion-like texture. They also promise no feathering or cracking. That’s because the formula contains 68 per cent skincare ingredients, namely, cold-pressed safflower oil, which gives this lipstick its slip. But the chiselled bullet makes it unique, which the brand calls intuitive, and helps with a precision application. All 20 shades reflect the tech world we live in, with names such as Data Stream, Main Frame and Upload, and come in a range of wearable nudes to soft berries and bold reds - a shade to suit any style.

Our favourite shades

Why do we like it?

The creamy formula does glide on effortlessly without dragging on your lips. The colour is packed with so much pigment; you can achieve a bold coverage, or if you press it on with your finger, you get that lived-in look, and it stays true to shade. That bullet is chiselled to perfection and mimics the shape of a lip brush for a clean outline on the lips. Now to the colour range, without a doubt, nude, red, and pink are the three colours that make up a well-rounded lipstick wardrobe and with this collection, the choice is brilliant. Finally, I would be remiss not to mention the stunning sleek, red packaging, a nod to the expertise of Japanese craftsmanship.
