Remember when the K beauty trend of 'glass skin' took over our Instagram feeds not too long ago? Now the focus is on hair. That same enviable shine can be created with the help of heat-activating sprays and nourishing creams. Read on to learn how to give your locks a mirror-like sheen by editor Trudi Brewer.
Ramp up the moisture
It is impossible to create a high-gloss finish on damaged hair. This is because hair that is dry and frizzy lacks moisture. Invest in a weekly hair mask or treatment to boost hydration. For those with thicker hair, it is worth also adding a few drops of hair oil to your mask, make it a weekly ritual until your hair starts to look and feel healthier.
Hask Miracle Damage Repair Cream, $10.

The vegan formula is free from sulphates, parabens, phthalates, and drying alcohol. Apply to damp or dry hair.
Prep your hair
It all starts in the shower. Opt for silicone and sulphate-free shampoo, specially designed for your hair type. Squeeze out excess water, and then apply conditioner for at least five minutes, combing the product through your hair to ensure every strand is coated. Never rub dry damaged hair with a cotton towel, this s notorious for fluffy up the hair’s cuticle and creating frizz, wrap wet hair in a microfibre towel and let it dry in the towel, until it’s damp and then style.
Kérastase Chroma Absolu Soin Acide Chroma Gloss, $77.
This high-shine rinse-out treatment is brilliant on dry, frizzy colour-treated hair. It strengthens while sealing cuticles to prevent frizz. Simply saturate freshly washed hair and towel-dried hair. Leave it on for a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly.
The finishing touch
Blow-drying is the way to get a glass-like finish on your hair, rather than relying on straighteners. Before styling, add a leave-in hair oil or cream to the palms of your hands, working the product through the ends of your hair and avoiding your roots. The trick to a glass-like blow-dry is to use the nozzle attachment on your hairdryer, pointing it downwards to seal the hair cuticles as tight and flat as possible. To keep the cuticle sealed, spritz a shine spray or flexible-hold hairspray lightly over the top for the finishing touches.
