A toast to SJP & Invivo X

The trailer has finally been released for the much-anticipated new season of Sex in the City, a spin off named And Just Like That. We thought what better way to celebrate than to try Sarah Jessica Parker’s new wine collab. By Trudi Brewer.

The team at BeautyEQ try the new Invivo X Sarah Jessica Parker wines

Invivo X Sarah Jessica Parker French Rosé 2019, $20

A premium French-style rosé – we would expect nothing less from Sarah Jessica Parker (SJP). It's the second release in the Invivo X Sarah Jessica Parker wine collaboration, a partnership with a family estate from the Golden Triangle in Saint Tropez. SJP selected this wine (the final blend) over an afternoon drinking in the 'Golden Triangle' Provence, where the grapes are grown.

What does it taste like?

Before popping the cork, it fit with my favourite tipple - a glass of chilled rosè. It also received five stars from the guys at Wine Orbit: Stating: "This is instantly appealing on the nose showing grapefruit, crunchy apple and nectarine characters with a hint of sweet raspberry." I don't profess to be a wine expert; we leave that to our wine writer Joelle Thomson. But after reading up on this pink that, "Can be serious but is also seriously fun." Although I usually gravitate toward a more full-bodied rose, a darker pink than this sophisticated French style, anything that looks this pretty that comes with celebrity credibility - SJP had a hand in naming the wine and designing the label - is good enough for me.

Invivo X Sarah Jessica Parker Sauvignon Blanc New Vintage 2021, $22

New Zealander's love their Sav. I don't. Not when there are so many gorgeous reds on offer. However, in the name of fashion and Carrie Bradshaw (SJP's character in Sex in the City) a style icon, I was prepared to take one for the team and sip a glass of Sav, and to be honest, I was pleasantly surprised with this crisp white.

What does it taste like?

The brand says this white wine has the aromas of ripe tropical fruit, the mingling of citrus peel, and exotic guava. There is also an oak influence that underpins that fresh seasonal fruit. For me, when chilled down, close to freezing, it's an ideal drink on a sunny afternoon, and my girlfriend (who only drinks sauvignon blanc) was impressed. It works well with my favourite cheese; it's easy to drink and it’s fresh and juicy - precisely what I am expecting from the new series And Just like that. It would be remiss not to mention Sarah Jessica hand-painted the X on the original label and found the teal paint to match the exact shade of one of her favourite satin shoe colour ways - that's respect.
