Congratulations to Danny Pato stylist and co-owner of d&m Hair Design in Auckland. Pato won the hair industries most prestigious prize at the Schwarzkopf Professional Hair Expo Awards in Melbourne on Monday night. Named New Zealand's Hairdresser of the Year amongst some the best stylists from New Zealand and Australia. "It took me completely by surprise. When they called my name I almost went deaf and blind," says Pato. Who with help from his husband walked to the stage to accept his award. "Once the shock wore off, I felt like Miss Universe. It was wonderful to have the team, my d&m salon family with me to share this special moment and our achievement." The pressure of being NZ's top stylist comes with opportunities and responsibility, says Pato. "It will keep me on my toes to perform at the top of my game – but I will relish that".
