The best of Trinny London's cosmetics

There is something addictive about Trinny London cosmetics. Yes, the founder Trinny Woodall has influenced generations of women with her UK TV series What Not To Wear, but her beauty brand is more than just colour and skincare. She has a cult following because she has cleverly targeted women who feel seen and unheard regarding beauty. So, for anyone new to Trinny London, here are my faves from a brand that in every way delivers on its promises, by editor Trudi Brewer.

You’re missing out on some brilliant beauty innovations if you're unfamiliar with UK stylist Trinny Woodall and her eponymous named beauty brand Trinny London. She has quite the reputation (for a brand that's been around for just over six years) for creating clever, cult beauty buys. The top-seller Miracle Blur is a perfect example of this. Much more than a skin primer - it’s a line filler with a mousse-like consistency that stays in place for hours. Her colourful Stackable Pots for cheeks and lips, in various textures, bring versatility to any makeup routine. The skin hero BFF SPF 30 Cream, has an iconic status when it comes to a hybrid product that provides a gorgeous glow to the skin while protecting it from damaging UV rays. Or the BFF De-Stress tinted serum, another multi-tasking beauty buy Woodall claims has a stretchable formula that will adapt to your unique skin tone while covering imperfections and fighting daily stress and environmental aggressors. The list goes on. In fact, I am not sure if this woman ever sleeps with the pace that Trinny London moves, launching newness. But makeup is nothing without a good skincare routine, so Woodall has launched that too. A year old (it launched in May 2022), there are three epic Cleansers and three Exfoliants to cover the needs of all skin types and issues. Three potent Serums to regenerate, brighten and hydrate the skin. In particular, Woodall says, one will 'bring your skin back to life.' And finally, two exquisite Moisturizers. So to enlighten you on the products I have on rotation 24-7, here are my must-have five Trinny London staples -you can thank me later.

TRINNY LONDON Be your best ENZYME BALM CLEANSER, $68.

Trinny Woodhall says don’t just use a wipe to clean your skin. Treat it to a proper double cleanse twice daily, and I agree. This oil-based balm melts into the skin to remove every scrap of makeup, and once you’re in the ritual of cleansing twice a day, you won’t want to miss out on the glow it gives your skin. It’s got some heavy-hitting ingredients too. Nourishing almond, borage and linseed oils, glycolipids (fatty acids) that activate with water, and make this balm and milky lotion while whisking away the daily grime. Pineapple enzyme to gently exfoliate, and finally, a prebiotic complex
Alpha-glucan oligosaccharide protects the skin’s barrier to keep moisture in and irritants out. There is also a Refill, $55.

TRINNY LONDON Plump Up PEPTIDE HA SERUM, $138.

Anyone that has used a hyaluronic acid-infused serum will know how it can plump up the skin and leave it looking dewy and feeling hydrated; however, mix in some potent protein peptides, including hexapeptide-9, oligopeptide-1 and the brand-famous four-peptide complex (short chain amino acids), and you get a hydrating, firming boost simultaneously. According to Woodall, this serum is the 'support bra for your skin that is the skincare equivalent of restoring pillowy fullness to a well-worn cushion'. Couldn’t agree more. You can use it both morning and night, and it’s an ideal serum it adds to any routine.

TRINNY LONDON Miracle Blur LIp + LIne Filler, $55.

Yes, it is a skin primer but more like a line filler. Thanks to the mousse-like consistency, this silicone-based balm fills in wrinkles or scars by sitting in the gaps to reduce the depth and volume of any flaws, offering a blurred or smoothed effect. The brand describes this as a ‘Polyfilla for the skin’. While the finish is matte, unlike other silicone-based primers, it's hydrating, with a sponge-like texture, so it doesn't slip or slide under makeup but helps it stay in place all day. A little of this wonder balm goes a long way. I have had the same pot for over six months.

Trinny London BFF De-Stress, $82.

There are 12 stretchable shades designed to help you find the perfect match for any skin tone, with light, medium and dark offerings. That stretchable technology means you can have a barely there or layer it on to have full coverage, but it feels like skincare on your face, not the foundation. The skincare benefits are clever too. An NP-TriOX™ technology that combines five times the active concentration of Neurophroline, an extract from wild indigo. This helps break down skin cells' cortisol (the stress hormone) production. The brand’s triple broad-spectrum antioxidant complex protects the skin and stimulates collagen production, while hyaluronic acid keeps your skin hydrated all day. There is also a BFF Eye Concealer, $59, also in 12 shades that I have yet to try.

Trinny London Lash2Brow, $59.

Genius - this is your mascara and brow gel in one dual-ended tube. Why don’t more brands do this? It’s the best innovation for anyone who wants to travel light but still look well-groomed, and both are brilliant for staying put all day. The mascara builds impressive length and volume with no smudging or flaking. At the same time, the brow gel has a micro-precision brush. The gel-like colour gives the boy brow effect in seconds - this is one of the best multi-purpose beauty buys.
