It's daunting finding a new fragrance, but armed with these expert tips, we swear it makes the process much simpler. Our advice: Smell five on one day at most, you don't want to overwhelm your nose. Select two or three only to try on your skin, and finally, find an expert who can help you with your journey of discovery. We asked Amelia Saxon counter manager at Life Pharmacy in Riccarton, Christchurch to share her passion and expertise, as well as some of the new standout scents this spring and how to wear them.

YSL Libre is a truly unique new fragrance. Once on the skin, it changes to suit you perfectly. With a touch of lavender to start, it then wraps your skin in the warmth of musk after a few hours. Another new fragrance is Chanel Gabrielle Essence. It’s an ultra-fresh, feminine scent, with wonderful luminous qualities. Finally, Dolce and Gabbana K, I love that this fragrance is unisex and appeal to everyone.

This spring it’s lavender, tuberose and tonka bean, with a splash of citrus.
