I am not alone when I speak of the love affair we have with fragrance. Its ability to evoke memories and moments, it is part of some of the greatest love stories of all time. We showcase some of the most magical scents that all have a unique and wonderful tale to tell.

Atelier Cologne Vanille Insensee, $245. 
Developed in France, this exquisite scent has ingredients sourced from all over the world in order to create a sweet, yet spicy fragrance trail. Coriander from Russia features in the top notes, jasmine from Egypt makes an appearance in the middle notes before settling down to the base notes which include vanilla from Madagascar.

 

Agonist Infidels, $299.
Created to be a fragrance of passion, this gem from Swedish brand, Agonist, features an explosion of notes which start with the heart of the rose before introducing sambac, magnolia, pink peppercorns and bourbon vanilla - this scent is pure romance in a bottle.

 

Creed Acqua Originale Cèdre Blanc, $499.
A nod to the green accords of the American forests, in particular, the Blue Mountains of West Virginia which is adored by perfumer Olivier Creed himself. Expect notes of bergamot, cardamom, jasmine and vetiver just to name a few. This scent is the perfect example of a woody aromatic.

Le Galion Iris, $269.
Developed in 1937, the very same year fashion designer Cristobal Balenciaga moved to Paris and Marie Claire women's magazine published its first issue, comes this beautiful fragrance, Iris. This simple scent captures its inspiration from the 1920's Art Deco period. True to the blooms powdery aroma, this perfume is elegant and sophisticated. Along with iris, you will also be greeted by top notes of green mimosa from the south of France.

 

Grandiflora Queen of the Night, $229.
Like any true love story, there is tragedy woven with desire and this fragrance is the perfect example. Created by Grandiflora along with Bertrand Duchaufour this scent draws its inspiration from the beauty of the Queen of the Night, a rare cactus which flowers once a year for one night only, the cent so intoxicating, it has become an aroma of legends. This sensual scent is bursting with sexy notes including clove, orange blossom, ylang ylang, wisteria as well as mimosa, vanilla and musk.

Designed to be truly feminine, this scent is romantic with a modern twist. A floral symphony welcomes you in the top notes where you can expect to smell the namesake, lilac accord as well as heliotrope, peony and gardenia. Upon settling down, you will start to discover the cocoa and tonka bean before finally sensing the dry down base notes of sandalwood, patchouli and vanilla.

 

Lubin Black Jade, $399.
Legend has it that it was a black jade bottle that held the last remaining ingredients from a secret garden. This formula was then handed down over centuries and recreated. Fast forward to today and Lubin pays homage to the scent with this woody oriental that contains a bouquet of notes which include bergamot, geranium at the top, heart notes of jasmine, rose, cinnamon and incense before reaching the headier base notes of sandalwood, amber, tonka bean and vanilla.
