DIY Frooze balls

These days, it's hard to find the perfect sweet treat without overloading on sugar or calories. Although here at Beauty EQ, we think we’ve found the answer. Frooze balls are the latest trend and are gluten free, dairy free, paleo and 100% guilt free. Filled with protein and energy, they are simple to make and the perfect healthy snack to fuel your day. Even better, you can chop and change, or add whatever you need to make this recipe perfect for you.

Super healthy Frooze balls

Our new production assistant Alex Mead is mad on Frooze balls, impressed at her DIY baking skills. She has been sharing the love in our office - check out her recipe for healthy Frooze (bliss) balls.

Ingredients
500g Pitted dates
400g Dried fruit and nuts
(Tip: Macadamia nuts are perfect for a nutty and textured frooze ball) 
200g Assortment of seeds
4 tbsp Baking Cocoa
Vanilla Essence (For different flavours, swap vanilla with peppermint essence or lemon juice to shake things up) 
Desiccated coconut to coat
Method
Soak dates in boiling water for 15-30 minutes.
In a food processor, mix dried fruit, nuts, and seeds until they become breadcrumb like, and place in a mixing bowl. 
Drain dates and place in the food processor along with baking cocoa and vanilla essence. Keep the remaining date-water in case you need to add a little bit more moisture later. 
Blend until you have a sooth paste and combine with the dry mixture. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty, some times this is easier than your good old wooden spoon.
Line a tray with baking paper.
Roll small balls using your hands and roll in coconut until totally coated and place on the tray.
Refrigerate for at least an hour before eating. 
For best results, refrigerate overnight and keep stored in airtight containers in the fridge as well.
