The latest fragrance to hit Louis Vuitton counters here in Auckland is timeless and chic - and frankly we expected nothing less. Trudi Brewer reveals the seven new scents.
A bottle of fragrance is my go-to Christmas wish and the most recent bespoke collection from Louis Vuitton has turned my head. The new fragrance line Les Parfums is the first for many years since the brand's debut scent, Heures d’Absence which launched back in 1927. That followed a trio of fragrances in 1928 named Je, Tu and Il. And the last for decades was launched back in 1946 named Eau de Voyage and Reminiscence. This latest fragrance family to hit the newly-renovated Louis Vuitton store on Queen Street in Auckland this Friday are seven carefully curated fragrances, the work of celebrated perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. He has put his name to some unforgettable scents over the years such as Issey Miyake’s L’Eau d’Issey and Stella by Stella McCartney. His latest creations were four years in the making, each scent is exceptional and features some of the most exquisite floral combinations. Turbulences blends tuberose and jasmine petals, Rose des Vents transports you to a field of roses in Grass with May rose the featured bloom along with iris and cedar. Dans la Peau is a musky blend thanks to the natural leather, heady jasmine and candied apricot. While Apogee, is perhaps my favourite a simple cocktail of lily-of-the-valley, magnolia and sandalwood, ideal for summer. To complete the collection, Contre Moi, is what I would consider a heady evening scent that hosts a blend of vanilla, orange blossom, herbs, rose and magnolia. While Matiere Noire hosts cyclamen, narcissus, blackcurrant, jasmine, patchouli and oud. And finally, sweet Mille Feux a cocktail of raspberry raspberry and leather extract and osmanthus. Each scent is housed in a simple rounded vessel with a stopper cap - they are set to become the new classics.
