Louboutin famous for his red soles has cast its first plus size model Clementine Desseaux to front their new beauty campaign. A self-described “plus-size” model, (or curvy to most of us), in an industry where size six is the norm, the 27-year-old says being chosen to front the luxury fashion house's new lipstick line proves that attitudes are changing for the better. “Such a big French brand using a curvier girl for her face is a big step. Not for curvy women, not for freckles, just for women. The beauty norm is changing, and differences that used to be weaknesses are now turning into strengths,” she says.
Next year Desseaux will feature in the plus-size modelling documentary Straight/Curve, which examines beauty standards in the fashion industry and their wider impact on society.
The new Louboutin lip colour in its daring metal bullet casing, will be an investment piece in any beauty wardrobe, costing $90 US dollars.
