The fragrance industry is now keeping pace with skincare brands offering sustainable scents that do more than use the power of plants to harvest natural ingredients. While perfume makers have had the upper hand (when was the last time you saw a perfume in a plastic bottle?) using glass bottles, they are now taking on the 5 R approach in every aspect of fragrance creation: rethink, reduce, reuse, repurpose, recycle. Respecting the life cycle of every bottle, without compromising on elegance or design. The latest from Chloè is the perfect example of this. Read on to learn more.

Chloè Nomade EDP Naturelle, 50ml, $185.

Spring-like Egyptian jasmine and freesia radiate from this fragrance when you spritz it on your skin. The blend of juicy Mirabelle (plum) and sweet date offers a subtle spicy quality. Understated vanilla, sandalwood and oakmoss bring that powdery warmth, one of the trademark qualities of the Nomade collection of scents. Yes, it’s vegan, and the ingredients are 100 per cent from natural-origin. There is no artificial colouring, and it’s formulated with naturally derived alcohol and water - and nothing else. Finally, the new, lower-impact bottle includes recycled materials, which make up 15 per cent of the glass bottle and 40 per cent of FSC certified cardboard is used for the box.

Why do we like it?

When it comes to fragrance, sometimes the simplest ingredients make for the sweetest scents. Case in point with the new Chloè Nomade. It's subtle yet unforgettable. Created by rising star French perfumer Caroline Dumur, who has made fragrances for Paco Rabanne and Comme des Garcons, she has nailed every inch of this planet-friendly scent. It will stir up light and happy feelings with uplifting and romantic jasmine and the sweet, almost secret scent of date. We agree that the brand calls this a feminine solar, addictive scent. Our final word is love.
