Shiseido's new Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation

Sun protection aside, this anti-ageing foundation makes my skin look luminous, healthy and younger.
That's because it's the bridge between skincare and makeup, says editor Trudi Brewer. Watch how I use this new foundation for day and night.

My top application tips

After experimenting with this makeup, it’s so versatile for my lifestyle. I use it sparingly, or you can achieve full coverage by layering on a few coats. I like to only apply it to the parts of my face that need brightening or concealing (like brown spots). This way, I have some bare areas on my skin that gives my makeup an overall natural-looking finish for the day. Then it’s easy to amp it up for the evening and make the most of the micro-crystals and pearl lustre - it’s changed my makeup routine.

What's in it?

A hybrid water-based foundation that offers skincare benefits with built-in luminous-looking colour. Stacked with skincare benefits, including citrus peel extract, wild thyme, hydrating and firming beech tree extract, and hydrolysed protein, this foundation firms and lifts the skin while you wear it. The light-adjusting technology is thanks to micro-crystals that blur the look of shadows and fine lines, while the pearly lustre wipes out the look of dullness and covers brown spots creating an even-looking complexion. There are 16 shades from Alabaster to Sunstone; my shade is a medium beige in Pine.

How to get a perfect colour match

A colour match is essential between seasons or if you're searching for a new foundation formula. The jawline is the best area of the face to test the colour - make sure your skin is makeup-free before trying a new foundation; your aim is a seamless colour match. Head in-store to a Shiseido consultant who will find the perfect shade and share tips on how to get a seamless, illuminating finish.

How to get the best finish

For a lightweight, sheer finish for the day, always start with Shiseido Synchro Skin Soft Blurring Primer, applied with your fingers to give makeup longevity, visibly improve the look of fine lines, and controls shine. Next, use a pea-sized amount of the Shiseido Synchro Skin Radiant Lifting Foundation; I like to use my fingers; this warms the foundation and helps get a sheer finish that leaves skin with a dewy-looking glow. Or try Shiseido Hasu Fude Foundation Brush, for medium-to-full coverage; either way, you're aiming for a healthy-looking glow. This foundation will also take you from day to night if you dot on another layer, where you need extra cover, and then use Shiseido Daiya Fude Face Duo, to buff it into the skin. You can expect a 24 hours cover, but most importantly, it makes my skin look great in any light.
