If you’re keen to hang on to that holiday glow, the ‘golden-hour make-up trend’ is for you. Here’s how to get it, regardless of your skill.

The skin tint

HOURGLASS Veil Hydrating Skin Tint, $89.

Hourglass has just dropped a new skin tint that makeup artists are raving about. It offers the perfect base for creating a believable, soft glow. Known as a makeup and skincare hybrid, it’s lightweight and instantly hydrating, full of nourishing ingredients to improve your complexion. Boosted with hyaluronic acid, it floods skin with moisture, while meadowfoam seed oil uses fatty acids to strengthen skin, and plant-based squalane helps stimulate collagen and minimises issues like redness and water loss. Apply with a foundation brush or use your fingers to massage the formula into the skin like a moisturiser. There are 18 diverse shades.

The concealer

GUCCI Concentré De Beauté Liquid Concealer, $95.

For blurring the look of imperfections, this long-wearing yet lightweight formula is stacked with film formers to leave a natural-looking blurred second-skin-like finish. The stretchable texture blends seamlessly thanks to the coated pigments for a targeted and all-over application. It’s infused with black rose oil, hyaluronic acid, and Acmella flower to correct and smooth the skin - while you wear it. Apply from the applicator to the skin, and blend with your fingers or a brush. There are 40 diverse colours.

The screen

Supergoop
Glowscreen SPF 40 Sunscreen with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide
, $64.

A necessity, SPF is the one product you need every day, but it doesn’t need to leave a white cast on the skin to protect it. This newbie is hydrating, thanks to hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5, a makeup-gripping primer that happens to offer an SPF 40 as well as blue-light protection from cocoa peptides. All that is whipped in a pearlescent base to leave your complexion with a luminous instant glow. There are two shades: Sunrise and Golden Hour (pictured here).

The shimmer highlight

Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminizer, $47.

Touted an ‘absolute star of the glow.’ This liquid shimmer can be applied on any area where the sun naturally hits your skin. The top of your cheekbones, middle of your eyelids, bridge of the nose, brow bone, and a touch right on the Cupid's bow of your lips. For the body, the collarbone and tops of the shoulders add instant glimmer. It shows off your skin in the best light and is good for it, too. Brimming with glow-giving ingredients such as gardenia, lotus and waterlily flower extracts, sunflower seed oil, and natural iron oxides to give the tinted shimmer. There are eight shades pictured here, Flaunt.

The glow giver

Charlotte Tilbury GLOWGASM Beauty Light Wand, $66.

Tilbury wanted to capture the effects of golden light hitting the skin with this glow-giver. A liquid highlighting wand stacked with pearl extracts rose gold, and silver pigments to brighten dull skin. It’s the perfect product to add instant radiance to any skin tone. There are six shades pictured here Goldgasm.

The gloss

TARTE Maracuja Juicy Lip Plump Shimmer Glass, $48.

The latest gloss to join this clean cosmetic lineup is shimmery and lip-pumping. An all-in-1 plumping balm, gloss, lip colour and hydrating treatment with hyaluronic acid, maracuja (passionfruit), as well as superfruit extracts including grape, watermelon, strawberry, acerola, peach, blueberry, and cranberry. Finally, its addictive finish is thanks to ‘duochrome’ pearls, which melt on the lips to give a multidimensional shimmer without that gritty glitter feel. If you can get your hands on one, there are six shades, pictured here, Rosy Copper.
