Technically forever means: "Things that last forever never come to an end — they continue endlessly," which sums up the story of Dolce & Gabbana's Light Blue fragrance collection. The original, still a top seller, was launched back in 2001, and there have been many seasonal reiterations since. Fast forward 20 years and the same French perfumer Olivier Cresp has made another Light Blue. This one, called Forever, takes us on a journey to a tropical resort, flooded with sunshine, evening cocktails and romance? We wish - right? Read on to learn more about these delightful citrus scents for you and him.

For her

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Forever EDP, $122.

It's sunny and sensual, and we agree with the brand; it does evoke the feeling of long summer days by the sea, thanks to the blend of summery ingredients. First, tart Granny Smith apple and tangy Calabrian lemon. According to the brand, the citrus oil, which is so life-like, is extracted using a traditional fragrance-making technique called the sfumatrice method, manually extracting the essential citrus oils in cold water. Then, that juicy blend is sweetened by sun-soaked orange blossom and given a spicy bite from Virginia cedar and cashmere woods. It made so much more desirable because it also contains our editor's favourite ingredient right now, white musk.

For him

Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme Forever EDP, $99.

Identical cold-pressed citrus oil, in this scent, its zesty grapefruit hits you the moment you spritz it on, followed by tangy Italian bergamot and delicate violet leaf that together give it a unique aquatic appeal. With a woody base of white musk and vetiver sourced from the Indonesian island of Java, all this fragrance needs is some sunshine on a lightly tanned bare chest to its call home.

Why do we like it?

If there was ever a time to take comfort in scent, it's now. That tropical holiday may be out of most people's reach right now, but the dream of sunshine, cocktails, and good times is coming. This new Light Blue Forever is the sign that summer and all it offers is on its way -yay.
