It's one of the most gram-worthy looks - #glowing skin, or 'highlighting,' as we say in beauty circles. So why does this word instill fear in even the most makeup savvy among us? Get across how easy, and what an impact adding a touch of shimmer to your skin can be with our favourite that will do all the work for you.
Powder highlighters are perfect for anyone who doesn't have the time or the patience to blend and layer on a cream or liquid finishes. They are virtually weightless, will soak up excess oil, and will not sink pores and fine lines throughout the day. One tip worth remembering: If you have fair skin invest in a bronzer that is gold, nude or taupe, rather than a deep bronze, and aim for a glow rather than an orange-looking tinge on the skin.

Apply your foundation before you add any highlighter, especially these creamy or liquid highlighters. These are ideal for adding a spot of highlight, anywhere you want an accentuate your features. One tip worth remembering: Pearl shimmer can look very unnatural in daylight, keep your highlighter subtle during the day, and amp it up at night, especially if you’re going out somewhere with dim lighting.
Marc Jacobs Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter in Tantalize, $73, there are two shades. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid Highlighter in Champagne, $71, there are seven shades on offer. Designed for adding to the cupids bow, and along the brow bone, or to sculpt the cheekbones these sticks can be swiped over the skin and blended with the fingertips. For making your cheekbones really pop, use a dark bronze colour, and draw on series of dashes just below the cheekbone, and then blend with a foundation brush. Next, apply a lighter shade just above the cheekbone (above the bronze shade you have applied), to give the skin that holiday glow. One tip worth remembering add the glow or shimmer to your skin where the sun would naturally hit your face.
