Happy National Lipstick Day. Beauty brands are showing off their best collections today, and in case you missed it - MAC are celebrating by offering up two tasty best sellers free, including Hug Me and See Sheer, when you spend $40 in store. We are sharing our favourites - let's face it a girl can never have too many lipsticks!
MAC Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo, $40.
Red lippy lovers should have the colour Ruby Woo in their lipstick collection. It works on any skin tone and looks incredible with or without as full face of makeup. It's my go-to hue when I feel like wearing a bold lip look, and as far as the finish goes, it's a subtle non-drying matte, that can be worn in layers or pressed onto the lips to offer a subtle stain - it's like a great pair of jeans it's so easy to wear.
ILIA Lipstick in Femme Fatale $41.
I am drawn to natural lipsticks these days, considering it's the one beauty product you quite literally eat off your skin on the daily. This formula is made from cocoa butter, jojoba oil, and pomegranate seed extract, blended with earth-derived mica pigments that offer a full coverage colour that is spun into a satin finish. And this bold berry shade is the perfect option for after five.
Burts Bees Glossy Lipstick in Nude Mist, $22.
There is nothing in this lipstick you can not eat. It contains 100 per cent natural, nourishing ingredients including red raspberry, moringa and meadowfoam seed oils, that offer brilliant shine and moisture. And to be expected it's also cruelty-free and without the nasties including parabens, phthalates, petroleum, SLS and synthetic fragrances.
Nars Lipstick in Damage, $44.
It's true, you buy lipstick ofor the shade, and this plum brown is a great everyday hue that works with almost everything in my wardrobe. But the reason I keep buying it is for its creamy consistency and satin finish. The great colour payoff you get from the rich pigmented formula means it lasts for hours and fades rather than feathers as it wears off.
Bobbi Brown Lip Color in Blondie Pink, $54.
Creamy, it feels so luxurious on the lips, thanks to the beeswax and castor seed oil formulation, in this very wearable muted-pink-nude. It's a great colour for weekends and days when you just want that barely-there look on the lips. But add a hint of clear gloss and it's suddenly looks super glam.
bareMinerals Gen Nude Radiant Lipstick in Queen, $31.
First up, I am a bareMinerals makeup fan. From the lipgloss to the natural mineral powder, and once you wear this delicate vanilla-scented lippy you will be too. The reason it features in my collection is for its naturally derived shea, mango and cocoa butter that is whipped into a base of long-lasting natural mineral pigments that gives it excellent longevity.
