A sucker for a creamy eyeshadow, editor Trudi Brewer shares her latest makeup obsession.
For an everyday, fast makeup look you can't beat cream eyeshadow. For the speed and ease of application (fingers or a fluffy brush make the best tools), and their ability to melt into the skin, Revlon Colorstay Creme Eye Shadow, $18 is a winner. With 12 pretty shades that leave a look on the lids like you have spent hours creating a complicated smokey eye, these creamy shadows are luxurious, blend-able, and long-wearing. There are four finishes from metallic to pearl, satin and matte, which in my humble opinion make them an eye makeup option for any age.
Here's how I apply them to create a simple, everyday makeup look
To nail a quick smokey eye look, start with the deepest shade - the colour I used is Chocolate, a matte brown. Make sure you buff any hard lines with a fluffy brush, and then run the brush underneath close to the lash line.
The brilliant thing about this creamy shadow is that there are no rules. You can go for a sheer wash of colour in one shade to a smokey finish blending a matte and metallic shade together. I like to add a spotlight of metallic colour in a light golden shade to help the lid really stand out, the colour I used is Creme Brulee. They are sheer, yet highly pigmented and leave a silky, weightless feel, but the big tick comes for its longevity and crease-free finish that lasts all day long.
Finally finish the look by grooming brows and adding a touch of cream blush. Buff skin with a clean fluffy brush to make sure to blend the cream blush and foundation together to give your skin a youthful glow and your every day makeup look is complete.
