Customising your beauty routine is one of the fastest growing trends. Editor Trudi Brewer explores the latest tinted drops that help you create a lightweight foundation from your everyday moisturiser.
Clinique BIY (Blend it Yourself) Pigment Drops, $85.
What is it?
Highly concentrated, these liquid coloured pigments, are suspended in a dual-phase formula that you shake to activate. These drops are designed to be mixed with your moisturiser to create a lightweight tinted foundation.
What's in it?
The pigments drops are very runny - so a little goes a long way. The formula can be mixed with a variety of products including moisturiser, serums and primers, to offer a glow-y lightweight tint.
How to use it?
These drops must be added to a cream or lotion moisturiser, they don't look right applied directly to skin. Depending on how many drops you add will determine the coverage you get. Clinique advise one drop will give a very sheer, tinted moisturiser finish, while three drops will give the coverage of a liquid foundation. You need to shake the bottle, and then tap it upside down to dispense the drops. We dropped the pigment moisturiser in the palm of our hands, rubbed our hands together to blend the two products, and then applied the bespoke foundation directly onto skin. It's a very small bottle, only 10 ml, but the fact that you use only a few drops a day, we are hoping it will last at least three months.
Why we like it?
We love that we can use these with any moisturiser to create a tinted face cream, for the day or night. We even tried a few drops in our regular foundation, which worked to create a heavier coverage makeup, they are super versatile. We love clever beauty innovations that save us time and speed up our morning beauty routine.
