Mastering the art of applying eye shadow is not as complicated as it looks. The place to start is finding a palette that suits your colouring, and learning how to blend all three shades.
If you have cool skin tones, and naturally blonde hair, try jewel-coloured shadows such as turquoise blue, pink and purple For those with warm skin tones, green, brown and gold look best. Anyone with blue, grey or green eyes, a metallic eyeshadow is so flattering with your colouring. For those with brown amber and green, you can wear the orange, copper and bronze shades.
Elizabeth Arden Little Black Compact and Eyes Wide Open Collection, $79 for the palette and two trio shadows.
What is it?
Customisation is the biggest trend in beauty right now all the way from skincare to makeup. Jumping on the trend, Arden has developed a collection of eyeshadows that allow you to do just that. This new range lets you create a wardrobe of eye shadow shades for any occasion.
What's in it?
It's not until you find an ultra-soft formulation that you realise how easy it is to blend eyeshadow for a seamless finish. Enriched with vitamin E, they're so hydrating and almost cream-like to touch, while vitamin A offers a soft focus effect which helps blur imperfections and strengthens the skin on the eyelids. Finally, the mineral mica pearls of pigment reflect light and give a pretty sparkle that creates a multidimensional effect once on the lids.
Why we like it?
The colour range is so broad with ten shades from cool blues to warm neutrals, there is a palette to suit every mood. For us it's all about the creamy texture  - they are so easy to apply and blend effortlessly. Also, The Little Black Compact houses two trios and is interchangeable, so it's brilliant for travel.
Shades include Touch of Lavender. Something Blue. Leaves of Green. Oh So Pink. You Had Me at Merlot. Forever Plum. Love of Grey. Bronzed To Be. Not So Nude. Smoky Nights.
Our favourite shades: Leaves of Green, Not So Nude and Forever Plum.
