Our favourite beauty trend to emerge over the past year has been the sheet mask. Courtesy of the very smart Korean beauty market, some of the first on offer hit our desks back in 2015, and today this category is worth $160.4 million according to a recent Transparency Market Research report. So what’s the reason for this trend taking hold? Innovation and ease of use, which works for busy women like us. This type of mask works like a bandage on a wound; the ingredients infused in the sheet stick to the skin and trap in the goodness, while your skin soaks it up.
They anyone searching for a quick beauty fix, and this year expect a plethora of these clever masks that will also suit any budget, in packs of four and more or in a single serve. Made from non-woven, hydrogel, bio-cellulose (the latest gel-like innovation) to cotton fabrics. Each mask is steeped in active ingredients that look and feel like a serum, and are designed to tighten and brighten skin - fast. According to that same market research report, the next wave of sheet masks come with natural ingredients such as honey and aloe vera to name a few.
