When it comes to a strict skincare routine, I have ADHD. I am all over every brand and each new release. After all my job is to cherry-pick, and choose the best products that hit counters, and then share their benefits with you. So when I was asked to push my collection of age-erasers to one side, in order to trail just one regime for a few months, it was a big ask. Fortunately, the range is one I already use, Ultraceuticals. Anyone who knows me, will often hear my rave about the Ultra UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF 30 Sheer Tint. It's my go-to complexion protection, it's lightweight, leaves a slightly matt finish, and has the bonus of an SPF 30, whipped into a honey-coloured tint. Over the years it has allowed me to skip wearing foundation in summer, and still look presentable.
Back to my trial, which is called RVR90. An Ultraceuticals routine that stands for 'Real Visible Results in 90 days'. Custom-created it will tackle any skin issue, from acne to fine lines, loss of firmness or smoothing skin with a coarse texture. It kicked off officially in February this year, and the combination of products you use, are selected with your skin goals in mind. Prescribed by a skin therapist, the routine is best used in conjunction with skin treatments, to deliver ultimate results. However, I opted for the home care program only, geared around brightening and hydration. And I can report, while it was tough sticking to one range for 90 days, my skin is in better shape for it.
Month one: The first thing I did noticed was those fine lines under my eyes were less prominent when applying makeup, and the pigmentation around my chin and on my temples was beginning to fade.
Month two: My foundation would glide on, and I certainly needed less to give that look of clarity to my complexion.
Month three: I could not believe how many complements I was getting. You look so well? Have you been on holiday? Have you had appearance medicine? All due to my skin being so well hydrated.
You many say these are little changes, but when you're busy the last thing you want to worry about is your skin. Think of RVR90 as a fitness regime for the face. Would I recommend RVR90? The answer is yes. For two reasons. For skincare novices, it will encourage you to cleanse, treat and protect your skin at home - everyday. And for a more sophisticated skincare user, the serum combinations you can blend to layer a cocktail of antioxidants on your skin will give it that kickstart in the lifting, firming and smoothing before summer. I have used Ultraceuticals on and off for years and knowing the level of research and high-tech ingredients that go into the range, I am comfortable to admit that these cosmeceuticals are all about results, no fluff - just hard-working skincare that we fondly term 'game-changing' for the face.
My RVR90 routine included:
Ultra Hydrating Milk Cleanser, $72. Ultra C10+ Firming Serum, $129. Ultra B2 Hydrating Serum, $102. Ultra Hydrating Lotion, $89. UV Protective Daily Moisturiser SPF30 Sheer Tint, $84.
If you're new to this Ultraceuticals a bit of background, it's an Aussie owned and grown brand, and was founded by Dr Geoffrey Heber back in 1998. He created this range to fill a gap in the skincare market; that was potent, yet affordable cosmeceuticals that would treat skin concerns and help erase the visible signs of ageing. Each of the Ultraceutical products come with scientific testing, trialled on people (not animals). And in my opinion the stars in the range include; serums loaded with vitamins A, B, C and Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs), the nourishing milk cleanser, and the stand sun protection line.
