Thanks to ever-changing technology, getting ready quickly doesn’t mean you have to compromise on looking and feeling great, Sarah Simpson explains.
There is no denying we live in a busy world that seems to be permanently in fast forward. I often think back to the time before children when I would sit down at my beautifully arranged makeup table to slowly and methodically apply my makeup and do my hair. Every stroke was perfection and I had time on my side to ensure I nailed whichever look I was going for.
Fast forward to 2016 and I am lucky if I have 20 minutes in the morning to get my ‘face’ on and ensure my messy ponytail looks on-trend versus just lazy! Thankfully, I know I am not alone.
It’s almost as if the heavens heard our plight and reported back to the beauty gurus because we have seen a lovely trickle of multi-purpose products come into the market which allows you to tackle more than one area at once meaning you need fewer products to get a great makeup finish and you might just have time to relax with a coffee before racing out the door.
Here’s the six I can’t live without.
1. Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips & Cheeks, $52
This handy pottle of colour acts as a blush and lippie in one. Using the warmth of your fingers to soften the creamy formula, dab some onto your lips and a little on the apples of your cheeks and blend to give you the perfect flush of colour.
2. Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging Targeted Skin Tone Corrector, $248
Stop aging in its tracks while also combating dark spots with this powerhouse product bursting with antioxidants. Used morning and night you'll be able to address a multitude of common skin concerns in one hit.
3. Mecca Cosmetica The Primer Wardrobe, $53
Whether your skin is yearning for some hydration, luminosity or some blurring, this handy trio all come to rescue. Choose which one you need or layer them together to cover off all three in one easy application.
4. Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara, $28
Your one-stop-shop for lengthening, thickening and curling. This mascara promises to address all your lashes needs in a wave of its magic wand.
5. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Wardrobe, $105
Use this palette to add highlighting to your upper cheekbones, or on your eyes for a natural shade of shimmer and even as a shimmery blush for your cheeks. These luminous triplets are worth their weight in gold for the areas they can cover off.
6. YSL Touché Eclat, $65
Not only perfect as a concealer to disguise blemishes, but this magic pen can also erase the telltale signs of a late night with a quick sweep under the eyes. Use it on your face during the day instead of reapplying a full face of foundation.
