Sunset eyes

There's a new colour trend for eyes that has us thinking of warm balmy nights on a tropical island and it has Sarah Simpson smitten.

Approach the cooler season with a new take on your eye make-up. It's time to put the dark smokey-eye to bed in favour of a look which is bursting with shades of burnt orange, cool copper and soft peach. While these tones may sound daunting to wear, they are in fact some of the prettiest and universally flattering shades when it comes to colour cosmetics.

To get the look just right, choose a 'sunset shade' that works in well with your complexion. Fair skin will favour a lighter peach tone, while darker skin tones will pull off a bright burnt orange to perfection. Buff in the shadow with a brush to blend out the colour - all of this works in to create the soft and seductive feel of this look. Those who may only want to dip their toes into the trend may opt for a light smattering of colour on the lower lash line which will still give you the effect without the complete commitment. The braver may want to blend different shades together to create a bold statement smokey eye with a twist.

Team this look with a dewy foundation finish, groomed brows and a slick of soft peach lip gloss.

Our pick of sunset shades.
