Latest nail trend
I'm not a big fan of eye-catching nail art, but beautiful-looking nails, well I am all for that. The latest style to catch my attention is the 'almond tip'. The fastest growing nail trend, it does require more maintenance than the classic squoval shape, but the almond tip is not as demanding as the point or talon. This elongated oval is elegant and achievable and it's certainly here to stay.
Here's how to get the look?
Nails will need to be strong, healthy and with at least a decent free edge, a quarter of an inch. The key is to copy the shape of an almond nut, so focus filing in an oval shape (toward the middle), aim for slender sides with a rounded tip.
Orly’s 180 Grit File, and a buffer, a strengthening base coat, is essential before applying any lacquer, as this will help keep your nails strong, and prevent them cracking or splitting at the sides.
Keeping the shape?
Regular maintenance is how to keep the shape and length, a hard-working cuticle oil hydrates and promotes growth, keep it by the bed and apply morning and night. I’m a fan of Essie Cuticle Oil. And when it comes to the 'it' shade - nude rules.
Here are my go-to new nude shades.
Faby Nail Lacquer in That's Jazz, $20. Essie Nail Lacquer in Fiji, $23. Revlon Classic Nail Enamel in Elegant, $15. MAC Nail Lacquer in Skin, $25. OPI Nail Lacquer in Coney Island Cotton Candy, $25. Revlon Colourstay Gel Envy in Checkmate $19.
